Unlike other drinks, it's flavor is very pleasing, the consistency is delightful- I mix mine with part skim milk, water, and ice, blended til thick- and it doesn't have a nasty after taste. If I want to change it up, I add a banana! It's high protein DIET food- lower your expectations!" But I have to say, the chocolate Bariwise meal replacement shake deserves a poor rating for multiple reasons. First- I used super ice cold water, so this should have been a refreshing drink- but I could not get over the taste. There is very, very little chocolate flavor compared with other brands of meal replacement shakes I've had. These Bariwise shakes were less expensive, but I'd have been much better off paying more for another brand. Yuk. Next, the texture is just so nasty. After the initial shock of the lack of any kind of flavor, was the shock of the gelatinous, gloopy, wallpaper paste texture. The shake is thick, but not in a good way. the texture is bad. Seriously. Because I bought several boxes of this shake, I've been trying to find a way to make them more palatable. Last night I added more water, and still could not adjust the texture. They must put an awful lot of thickening agent in these shakes, because two hours after I made a shake, and the icy water had melted, the shake was still a gelatinous glob standing firm in the glass. I would not recommend these Bariwise meal replacement high protein shakes. Spend a little more and get something with decent texture and flavor. It's great when I have to work late and don't have time to cook or when my son has a baseball game. It is high in protein which means it keeps you feeling full longer. I have never had it as a shake, though. I add 9 ounces of cold water to my shaker, pour the mix into the shaker, and shake. In a few seconds I have a great tasting chocolate pudding! I really enjoy the consistency and the wonderful chocolate taste. I try to have it at least once a day. The Chocolate is very filling and tastes great. I mixed it up in the blender with frozen Raspberries and it was wonderful! Such a treat! I do wish they were made with a different sweetener than Aspartame. Too much Aspartame gives me headaches. (Can't wait to try the Vanilla.)
