Diet and exercise is the fastest way to lose belly fat. That's simple enough, right? Actually nothing in life worth having is that simple. Diet is probably the biggest contributing factor to belly fat.

Proper nutrition is the fastest way to lose belly fat. Eating a diet rich in lean protein is ideal for those attempting to shape up their midsections. Some examples of the types of foods that will help burn belly fat are lean beef, chicken and fish.

Protein is not the only food that is beneficial to burning belly fat. Foods that include healthy fats such as nuts or olive are another great choice. Monounsaturated fat the so called healthy fat should be used in moderation, but is easy enough to incorporate into any eating plan. This is one key ingredient that made the Mediterranean diet a big hit.

Those looking to lose belly fat fast need to take heed of carbohydrates. High glycemic index carbs should be pretty much avoided. Fiber and other complex carbohydrates are a much better alternative.

Exercise is still very much a necessary part of burning fat. Unfortunately without proper direction people will overdo crunches and other abdominal exercises and only end up with sore abs for all that work. The key is not so much to make the abs bigger, but to strip the fat from them.

Hard work is the fastest way to lose belly fat. Sad but true this is easier said than done. Belly fat is no match for the proper focus and dedication.
