Eat Great To Lose Weight


Recent research indicate that Americans are becoming more and more obese and that weight loss is of primary concern. What is most alarming about this trend is that obesity has struck across every age group of society. Two groups are of primary concern here - our youth and children. Public schools have already begun to monitor what is being sold at the vending machines on the schools' premises.

Overweight is fast becoming the plague of our children and youth. Therefore, weight loss programs have become the focus of parents, guardians, educators, medical practitioners and politicians alike. "Lose the weight" has become the mantra of the media as well.

Yet, the irony of all this is that it does not have to be this way. It simply means that we have to make a concerted effort again overweight. The good news is that there are options available and many of them. However, the best option is not to be found in a diet pill. Losing weight can be more delightful than that.

So, for those wanting to or seeking to lose weight the question becomes, which weight-loss method is best? For sure, there are myriads of weight-loss methods to be found in the marketplace. These range from diet pills, to exercise, to dieting. How can an individual make the appropriate choice?

Essentially, a good weight loss program requires a lifestyle change. Yes, there will be things to let go, things like smoking, drinking alcohol and perhaps coffee. None of these are easy to give up but may be necessary for your quest to lose the weight to work. That great figure may not come without some hard work on your part.

Exercise is the most important lifestyle factor to look at in a weight loss program. The University of Maryland (Med. Sci. Sports Exer. 26, 1994, p. 1307-15) conducted a ten month study on obese men using a combination of nutrition and aerobic exercise. The men all lost weight, total body fat, and lowered total cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Remember, do not spare any expense with regard to your health and that of your children. Indulge yourself in a good program for the results may be amazing. Once you find a suitable regimen, immerse yourself in it and be dedicated. It will demand discipline on your part and it may be well worth it.

Most methods for losing weight do have some merit, but what is recommended in this article is a balanced approach. This means, that a sound plan must include a combination of both good nutrition and moderate physical exercise.
