Lose Fat: What Is the Best Afternoon Snack


I am always in search of how to lose weight and keep it off. I am a mother in my mid 30's, and I hate all of the see-saw diets that only work when you are following a diet with strict limitations. As soon as you are off the diet, or take a weekend break from their strict rules, you immediately gain all your weight back.

I had my baby girl almost two years ago, and I must say I gained a lot of weight in my pregnancy. After she was born, I had to be careful about dieting and exercise. Because I was breastfeeding her, I had to make sure I was taking in enough calories (healthy calories) that would pass through my breast milk. In addition, my daughter was born by emergency C-section due to a complication that I was having. Therefore, I had to be careful of exercise while my body healed from the surgery.

Even though I was trying to eat healthy, about a year after my daughter was born I was still over weight. I decided to analyze my eating habits with a food journal. Through this process, I found out that my main problem was afternoon snacking. Around 2:30PM - 3:30PM I would find myself starving and grabbing anything in sight. That is when I discovered the perfect afternoon snack. It has a way of curving the appetite, sweet tooth, and the craving to just munch on something during that afternoon lull.

The answer: Green Tea and Dark Chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)

The green tea and dark chocolate is packed full of antioxidants and is actually healthy for you. The tea also helps to make sure you are hydrated. It is a known fact, that dehydration can make your body feel hungry. In addition, green tea has been known to play a role in lowering cholesterol, burning fat, and keeping dementia at bay.

Dark Chocolate has been known to lower cholesterol as well as blood pressure. In addition, cocoa has been known to reduce weight gain and act as an appetite suppressant. It also has the same capability as green tea when it comes to fighting off dementia by providing more blood flow to the brain.

When all is said and done, my favorite part of the day is my afternoon snack. I take about fifteen minutes every day around 3PM and sit down with some green tea, dark chocolate, and some relaxing music. Afterwards, I feel refreshed and ready to get back to work. In addition, I have lost about 5 pounds in the last month!
