There are so many expensive diets and exercise programs in today's society. Many of them advertise extreme weight loss over a short period of time. Perhaps you, like many others, have tried such programs but did not get the results you had hoped for. Don't despair and don't give up! Maybe a strict, specialized diet isn't right for you. Below are some tips to help you make small adjustments to your daily routine that will result in steady weight loss. 1. Instead of eating three large meals and some snacks, eat six small meals a day. 2. Hydration is key for a healthy metabolism! Try drinking four 16 ounce bottles of water each day. 3. Stay away from extremely fatty proteins. Try fish, chicken, black beans, oat meal and more! These choices will provide you with the protein you need with out all the extra fat. 4. Only take in as many calories as recommended for your age, gender, and physical activity level. 7. Write down what you eat to help you keep track and raise your awareness. 8. Exercise! Even a thirty minute walk each day can make a huge difference. 9. Mistakes happen! Don't allow a few mistakes to convince you to quit your weight loss regime. 10. Don't plan to lose 50 lbs in a month! You will become discouraged when it doesn't happen. Aim for 7-10 lbs in a month. 11. Take the stairs! If you work on the third or fourth floor, take the extra five minutes and walk up the stairs. If you do this everyday, you could burn about 140 calories extra a week without having to put fourth much effort. 12. Reward yourself. If you are eating really healthy foods and exercising, allow yourself a treat. You don't have to cut out sweets completely! Just do your best to limit how many you take in. 13. Create a support network for yourself. Are your friends trying to lose weight, too? If so, why not ask them to join you on workouts and share healthy tips? It can be exciting and encouraging to have somebody on the journey towards weight loss with you. 14. Smile. A positive attitude can change your outlook on life and the way people look at you. Even if the scale isn't where you'd prefer it to be, keep your chin held high. You will probably end up making healthier choices as a result. 15. Sleep! Sleep is so important for your metabolism. Try to get seven to nine hours of rest each night! 16. Try different methods to maintain your stress levels. Stress takes a toll on your body and emotions, which can lead to unhealthy eating. Expensive diet plans can be helpful but they rarely help people maintain a their weight loss.
