Modern society has changed people's perception of what it means to eat properly. An abundance of food is available to most people, and as such, they have neglected proper eating habits. The very first factor to keep in mind when learning how to eat properly is to realize when exactly you are hungry. Keep in mind that there is a difference between actually being hungry and having an appetite for a particular food. Most people just crave food just because they want the taste, regardless of whether they really do feel hungry or not. When you are hungry, sometimes all you actually need are some fluids. You can satisfy this form of hunger by drinking water or fresh fruit juice, and your hunger will go away. Another recommended method of hunger control is to frequently eat fruits, vegetables, and nuts. They are nutritious and delicious things to eat. It is generally recommended to eat some portions of them everyday to keep your hunger at bay.
Knowing how to eat properly also has to do with what you eat and when you eat. Make sure to always eat breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast gets your metabolism going early in the morning, since it slowed down considerably at night because you haven't eaten anything for the hours you are asleep. You must make sure to eat at three hour intervals. This helps provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. Sufficient protein and a variety of fats such as Omega 3 fat, commonly found in fish oil, are essential to the body functioning correctly, and many healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables are naturally high in carbohydrate. All these methods will help your body to stave of its "Starvation Mode"; a bodily occurrence where your body starts to hoard huge amounts of calories and eventually leads to weight gain. If you only eat small amounts of food at a time, your stomach won't ever stretch out like it does when you eat a big meal, and then, with a smaller stomach, it won't take as much to make you feel full. This strategy helps regulate your food in take and helps you with hunger control. Lastly, drink lots of water. This is highly essential to your diet.
In conclusion, eating properly requires you to almost completely change your life style. It is a complete lifestyle revamp that you must re-adjust yourself to until it becomes completely second nature to you.
