Will I Lose Weight Through Cardiovascular Exercise?


Yes you will lose weight doing cardiovascular exercises. To get your weight down and keep it off, you would have to combine the exercise with a good eating plan. Find something that works for you, you can keep it simple or you can get very technical. I find a bit of both help the best.

Circulatory system

Your circulatory system is at work all the time. To make this system work harder you have to increase your heart rate, that's the amount of time your heart beats in a min. The faster your heart beats the more fuel you need to feed it. Think of it as an engine in a car. If the car is idling it is using fuel but at a very slow rate. To make the engine turn faster, you have to feed it more fuel. The more fuel you feed it the lighter the car gets.

Increase your heart rate

It doesn't take much to get your heart beating faster. Walking up a few stairs will push your heart rate up. What you want to do is get you heart rate up by 60 to 75% and keep it there for a period of time. Before you do these find out from you GP if you are in a good enough condition to exercise?

Body Fat

If you now use more fuel than you eat then the fuel you are burning will cause weight loss. When losing weight you want to make sure you are losing body fat and not muscle. Going back to the car example, a small engine will only use a small amount of fuel. A big engine will use more fuel. The bigger engine burns fuel faster even when it is idling. This is the same with your muscles. The muscle use up the food you eat, the more muscle the quicker the fuel is used.

Fuel

We know that we need fuel for our bodies to survive; I mean that's why we eat isn't it. Ok I know it's also because it tasks so good. Now what you have to do (this is a little bit of the technical part) is find out what amount of fuel your body needs for a day while doing no exercise. If you don't increase your food (fuel) intake and you exercise you will burn up all your fuel (food) and your body will start looking at other fuel sources.

Advice when losing weight

Cardiovascular Exercise can be done in many different ways. Some of them are better than others. The method you chose must suit you. Here are a few things to remember when losing weight:

· Eat correctly for the work you are going to do.

· Keep yourself hydrated while exercising.

· Be careful of stress on joint if the exercise involves long periods of running or jumping.

· Keep checking your body to see what weight you are losing, is it body fat, lean body mass or water.
