Doubtless you'll have seen and perhaps even investigated the many weight loss plans and diets that promise to help you shed the pounds. If so, you'll have noticed that the majority of these regimes rely on complex formulae, calorie counting or quick fix solutions. The following advice does none of this; read on to cut through the jargon and fat busting myths and discover how you can lose fat fast. A Question of In And Out If you're struggling to lose fat, it's quite simply because you're consuming more calories than you're expending. No matter how healthy your diet, if it comprises of too many calories which are not offset by adequate exercise, you will put on weight and ultimately gain fat. Just by taking a closer look at both your daily diet and exercise you can begin to address this. The first step is to become a conscious eater; often, unnecessary calories are consumed at unawares. Conscious Eating By making a concerted effort to question what you consume, you can begin to identify the bad habits that are contributing to your fat retention. Keeping a food diary is an easy way to do this; you simply record everything you eat in a day, the times at which you consume food and your portion sizes. After a week, it's likely to become obvious where your problems lie. Whatever your issue (oversize portions, excess snacking, late night eating or overindulgence in high calorie foods) rest assured, it can be remedied. It is much easier to lose fat by addressing a specific weakness rather than embarking on a vague 'diet' with no real aim. Move More It's a fact that people often overestimate the amount of exercise they do. Again, this can be combated by analysing your calorie expenditure. Using the same method as for the food diary, record your daily exercise, remembering to note down activities such as walking or house work. If you're struggling to lose fat, you're likely to uncover sedentary tendencies in your routine; be honest, do you take the lift rather than climbing the stairs, or use the car for short journeys that you could easily walk? Again, if this is the case, it only takes an awareness of the problem and a commitment to changing bad habits to improve things. It's often the small things that make the greatest difference as these are the activities that are performed most regularly. You can make a greater difference to your body's fat burning potential by walking that half hour to work and back every day and taking the stairs once you get there, than going to the gym for an hour once a week. Remember A lifestyle change is always more effective for fast fat burning than an unrealistic diet or exercise regime. You'll notice a faster change in your body by altering things that you do on a daily basis; habitual behaviour causes fat gain so it is this that must be addressed.
