Losing weight nowadays seems to be one of the hot topics. Everywhere you look people are talking about, printing ads about, writing blogs about losing weight. Our society has created images of what you are supposed to look like by using commercials and print ads in magazines. By seeing these things on a daily basis you are being programmed to feel bad about being a little overweight so that they can sell us diets that work fast. They try to convince us that you just need to take a pill or stop eating to lose that weight. Don't get caught up in the marketing of the corporate world trying to sell you false hope. What really needs to happen is you need to make changes in your lifestyle. Here are some simple changes you can make to lose those extra few pounds: 1. Avoid eating fast food, processed foods, sweets and alcohol. These types of things have what are called empty calories which do you no good. It is best to change your habits and start eating more fruits like apples, oranges and pears which are mostly water. High water content foods are good because they tend to fill you up faster and help with your digestion. 2. This leads to my number two which is drink lots of water. You should be consuming around a gallon of water each day which helps with food digestion. You should drink a glass of water right before you eat a meal. This will fill your stomach up so that you feel full after only a little bit of food. 3. Fiber rich foods are a good way to lose weight because they tend to take time to digest so you feel full at your next meal. Fiber rich foods are typically things like apples, raspberries, pears, carrots, cabbage, oranges, broccoli and corn. High fiber diets may also help reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. 4. Probably the most important step is to be active. Exercising is very important because it burns calories as well as strengthening your muscles. You need to burn more calories and then you consume. The best kinds of weight-loss exercises are cardiovascular. Running, jogging or cycling are some of the most popular cardio exercises that people like. But there are also things like aerobics and swimming which both burn calories and work your whole body. If you need to build up to these types of exercise than all you have to do is start walking. Try to start out at 1 mile per day and work your way up to 2 or 3 miles per day, this will build up your muscles and your cardiovascular to a point that you will be able to try one of the other exercises. Just remember that jumping on one of those diets that work fast is not the only answer. You must incorporate lifestyle changes to facilitate healthy weight loss. Losing weight is not just something you do but is a complete change in your lifestyle that becomes easier with everyday that passes. Author: Gerard Donaghy Written By Gerard Donaghy View Count: 101
