Seven Tips to Burn Calories


These are just some ways you can embrace to start boosting your metabolism. You may have heard stories of people who have lost dozens of pounds who simply switched to diet soda or walked a few minutes a day. These are all small habits that contribute to a big difference and bring your metabolism up. This will make weight loss easier and faster by increasing the metabolic rate and by burning more calories.

1) Eat More Protein
Protein requires a more complex chemical breakdown by your body to be digested and used as fuel. For example, 100 calories of protein may take up to 30 calories in the process. Protein also takes longer to digest and helps stabilize blood sugar for longer periods of time and can help prevent overeating during the day. Eating a serving of protein at every meal and as part of your snacks can increase the total number of calories you burn each day.

2) Spice it up
Eating spicy foods can speed up your metabolism. Only half a teaspoon of cinnamon a day can help boost metabolism and keep blood sugar levels under control. Is the thought of cinnamon in a cup of coffee in the morning unpleasing? Try spicing things up with cayenne pepper, ground red pepper or wasabi.

3) Exercising With Weights
Weight training increases your metabolism in a number of ways. Weight lifting will build muscle tissue. Muscle tissue is metabolically active, so you burn the calories even at rest and helps to increase enzymes in the burning of fat in your body.

4) Eating Fat
If you want to stay healthy and keep the fat off, you must put it in fat. It not only tastes good, but it is important to our body for it to work effectively. The consumption of more servings of healthy fats on a daily basis will actually increase the potential for calorie burning. Trying to contain the fats like flaxseed oil, hemp oil, olive oil, avocados, salmon, albacore tuna, nuts and seeds in your diet on a daily basis.

5) Eat Little and Often
Evidence suggests that eating small meals every 2-4 hours will keep your metabolism burning faster than larger, less frequent meals. When you eat small amounts often your body is constantly working to digest and absorb food, which requires energy.

6) Moving More
Sedentary people burn about one-third fewer calories per day. Simply taking every opportunity to move can make a dramatic difference in the amount of calories you burn in a day. Small movements over time accumulate a lot of calories. The trick is to keep moving all day. Write the word "movement" on post-its and put them in places that you notice when you're sitting still. Then, take every opportunity to travel and here are some ideas to burn extra calories:

Clench and release your muscles
Tap your feet
Change position
Swing your legs
Wriggle and fidget
Pace up and down
Stand up when you're on the phone and step from side to side
Stand up and stretch
Use the restroom upstairs
Park in the furthest corner of the parking lot
Move your head from side to side

7) Drinking Cold Water
Evidence has shown that your body might burn more calories by trying to raise cold water to the temperature of your body then it does with hot beverages. Also, being well hydrated will help your body's metabolic processes burn quicker.
