Stress can be a major bane in our lives. This is true particularly when you want to lose weight, as stress can be a major impediment. Although the HCG diet program is a world-renowned weight loss program, there is a possibility that a certain portion of dieters might find it difficult adjusting to the low calorie diet and the stringent consumption of food. After being a food lover for most of your life, it is only natural that the HCG diet program might seem like a daunting task. This can often lead to periods of excess stress. Stress during the HCG diet can be attributed to several different reasons. Dieters might get the impression that they are not losing as much weight as they expected while on the diet program. There have also been instances where dieters have cheated on the HCG diet and are worried whether they would be able to successfully complete the program. It is important to stay positive and focused during the HCG diet as stress can be a dampener to all your weight loss aspirations. Unwanted amounts of stress will cause you to gain weight. According to recent studies it has been conclusively established that excess amounts of stress can affect the hypothalamus gland and cause the dieter to gain weight. The hypothalamus is in charge of regulating the hormones in our body. Stress adversely affects the hypothalamus causing it to function abnormally. When a person begins to experience levels of stress while on the HCG diet, the hypothalamus begins to release chemicals and send out signals from the brain to the adrenal gland. This in turn compels the adrenaline gland to release chemicals that speed up the heart which affects the way fat grows in the Omentum fold of the abdomen. As a consequence the chemicals that are released secrete steroids that enter the fat stored in the abdomen and cause it grow large. This causes the development of a big stomach in the dieter. Stress should thus be avoided while on the HCG diet. The best way to counter moments of stress is by taking some time out from whatever situation you are in and move to a comfortable place where you can do some introspection and calm yourself for about 10 minutes till your anxiety levels drop. If you are one of those dieters that is feeling remorse after cheating on the HCG diet, you should cut yourself some slack and try not to repeat it. This would prevent you from stressing yourself further and reversing the process of weight loss in the bargain.
