Glycemic Index Diets For An Effective Weight Loss Program


Try surfing the internet for effective weight loss programs and you will be prompted to lots of sites that claim theirs are the best. However, only a few is able to provide you not just with a sexy figure but with lots of health benefits too. Glycemic index (GI) diets are a few of these weight loss options that can go beyond what no other weight loss formula is able to offer. With effective GI diets, you do not have to starve yourself to death nor deprive you of sweets, ice creams and cakes.

It might surprise you to know that glycemic index diets have been the basis of what most weight loss gurus have been advertising as effective, safe and reliable when it comes to results. Not only exclusive to people with diabetes, GI diets are also incorporated in famous diet programs such as the Sugar Busters and the very popular South Beach Diet.

There is a lot that you should know about glycemic index diets. Being designed originally for use by diabetes patients, one can expect that they are meals mainly composed of fruits, vegetables, wheat and lean meats. This diet does not include foods that are high in carbohydrates and sugar such as rice and certain sweets. You see, carbohydrates are absorbed by the body easily and as result makes you go hungry fast. However, if you rely on foods that have low GI values, which are slowly absorbed by the body, you don't feel hungry often and so your cravings for food become less frequent.

Using glycemic index diets mean that you need to avoid foods that have high GI values such as those served in fast foods. If you noticed, the more you eat of these foods, the more difficult it is to satisfy your hunger after a while, because absorption of these foods by the body is very fast. Also the worst part is your blood sugar starts to shoot up and it can sometimes become uncontrollable.

Having diabetes should not make you feel worried because of the thought that you only have limited choices when it comes to food. Believe it or not, there are hundreds of foods that you can eat and some of them can even help lower your blood glucose level. Fruits such as raspberries, oranges and apples have low GI values and you can eat them everyday. When it comes to veggies, you can choose between eating green leafy vegetables and legumes or beans. Some choices of fish, chicken and lean meats have also low GI values.

Following the different principles of glycemic index diets alone will not give you the kind of results that you want. Instead, you also need to engage in regular routine exercises. In a few months' time you will be reaping the benefits that glycemic index diets bring.

A lot of horror stories have been told about different weight loss programs but not with glycemic index diets because only the best results are achieved when using these. With this special diet you do not have to deal with harmful side effects nor health complications.
