How Adequate Sleep Could Aid in Reducing Weight


Have you ever wondered how getting adequate sleep could aid in reducing your weight? If so, you're not alone. If you have tried everything else this could be where you're dropping the ball.

Gordon Gekko said it best, "Money Never Sleep's". So we've grown to rely on artificial energy enhancements to fool the body. You're not dreaming enough if you think that works. Disrupting the natural cycle does nothing to reduce weight. Consistently getting an adequate amount of sleep is priceless.

The body is a temple of needs. Sleep has its assigned duty just like water and food. Playing catch up after a month would be difficult, so years of abuse, could lead to health complications or excessive weight gain.

By examining these four categories, you will be able to determine whether or not you are properly executing the steps needed to loss those unwanted love handles.

Hormones and Sleep

Sleep takes a toll on the hormones in your body. There are two that are especially important. The Leptin produces fat cells to regulate hunger. While Gherlin works to stimulate the appetite. When you deprive the body of sleep, your appetite increases and this could affect the body's natural cycle. This increase is likely the villain adding excess weight.

The Growth Cycle

Your Pituitary Glands are hard at work during that beauty rest, more so than they are when you're awoke. They secrete growth hormones that stimulate cell regeneration, reproduction and growth. In return this aids in muscle growth, which enhances the metabolism. Helping you burn energy faster. Inadequate sleep doesn't allow this process to complete its due diligence.

The Natural Steroid

The scientific term for this is Cortisol. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep lowers the amount of cortisol in your blood. This will keep your metabolism working in a productive manner. Lack of sleep increases cortisol, slowing the metabolism and likely adding unwanted weight.

Rest & Regeneration

It's time to put that gym membership to use. Exercise will forever remain a dominant factor associated with weight lose. Exercise inflicts necessary injuries to muscle fibers that the body needs to improve performance. Adequate sleep allows the body time to recuperate. Lack of proper rest will make you sluggish. The opposite is true with proper sleep. Get your body accustom to a weekly routine. The body will then get acclimated to this routine and began to reward you by burning those unwanted calories.
